How to enter flash mode

  • Download mode: Hold Volume Up and Volume Down while connecting the device to a computer with a USB cable.
  • Recovery mode: Hold Volume Up while connecting the device to a computer with a USB cable.

Installation

Prerequisites

  • Unlocked bootloader
  • Flashed TWRP (follow the TWRP guide)

Building

$ pmbootstrap build linux-samsung-a52sxq
$ pmbootstrap build device-samsung-a52sxq
$ pmbootstrap install

Flashing

  1. Boot into TWRP
  2. From there, reboot into fastboot mode
  3. Flash with pmbootstrap: 
    $ pmbootstrap flasher flash_rootfs
$ pmbootstrap flasher flash_kernel

Known issues

  • While normal framebuffer (/dev/fb0) works, there are issues with DRM.
  • Setting CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y turns the screen white and makes it heat up at the bottom.
